Subject: ok..I was there...
this was one of the most epic experiences of my life. My memory is that there was SO MUCH SMOKE/FOG in the tiny hall they were jamming in that from the outside of the doors you couldn't even see inside! Just a wall of smoke. I'll never forget wandering back to my campsite after the mainstage ended and hearing the LOUDEST EVER Viola Lee Blues blasting out of this little room. I thought "Hmm what's going on in there? Can't see inside at all...better check it out." Seconds later I'm whisked through a bouncing crowd and find myself practically face-to-face with Phil while he's dropping bombs with an unbelievably on-fire Jackie Greene...no gate or anything and it's just a short stage...there was some mega-feedback at one point...one was almost time-traveled back to some sort of primal Dead show at a club in '66. All the setlists I can find are written as if Phil was there the whole time...But I am 100% positive that Phil played on the first four songs and then Bobby played on the rest, and that they didn't play together at all. I think the only constant was Joe Russo on drums for the whole thing. Jackie Greene might have been on every song...it says here he took over on keys for Chimenti.

Mostly a bunch of old friends enjoying themselves here - nothing jaw-dropping, but some fine music to be had. Furthur meets Phil & Friends meets Ratdog meets Hot Tuna. Does anyone know if the players switched out when new ones came on, or did they just keep adding musicians? (it certainly *sounds* like the former....)

btw, not "Phil & Friends" per se - I think they bill it as a "Late Jam" or (wearily) "All-Star Jam".

Finally!!! Not a bad job either. I enduldeged way to late and got a little lost. Missed it! But it's really nice to finally hear this. And the taper doesn't even want credit. Well kuddos my friend, kuddos. Hope Furthur brings this little gem of a fest back to our neck of the woods. Can't wait for late spring!!!!!!!
